It is so heartrending to learn that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken life of another golden son of Bangladesh Mr. Md Imamul Kabir Shanto, Founding Chairman of the Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, Shanto-Mariam Foundation, and Sundarban Courier Service (Pvt) Ltd. Mr. Shanto was a freedom fighter, who the nation is indebted to for his bravery during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. A great man with luminous life story, illustrious career as social entrepreneur, and high vision for the higher education in Bangladesh, Mr. Shanto was a dear friend of China. We deeply mourns his death, prays for the salvation of his soul, and extends profound condolences to his bereaved family.

No words in the world is enough to explain my feelings ,my sorrow ,my pain ,anguish, grief, regret, and distress of mind. Lets all of us pray for the departed soul of our Beloved Chairman Sir Md. Imamul kabir shanto, the founder of the Shanto-Mariam Foundation.
I grew up with our Beloved Chairman Sir. He was such a great man, a true Hero to all of Us. He was ahead of his time ,as a true patriot time brings a great responsibility on him. He devoted his entire life for nation building and for the mankind.My life has been enriched since meeting this great man. A man who was respected by all the people that worked for him. I had the honor to work with him for last 17 years. So many memories and shared views , His gentle spirit and warm personality was a beacon to all. May Almighty Allah grant our beloved Chairman Sir Jannatul Firdous and make him among Al-Muttaqeen ..Allah please look after him until we meet him again Inshallah. Enlighten his grave and grant him a beautiful place in Jannah Al Firdous. ..Everyone please keep praying for his departed soul….

After starting my career you frequently you keep querying about me. Whenever I met you, you smile and guidance makes me confident.
Today you are not with us, But your memories is always with us.

মোঃ ইমামুল কবির শান্ত,
শান্ত মরিয়ম ইউনিভার্সিটি অফ ক্রিয়েটিভ টেকনোলজির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা আজ সকালে করোনা আক্রান্ত হয়ে মৃত্যু বরন করেছেন। তার এই মৃত্যু দেশে জন্য অপূরণীয় ক্ষতি।
তিনি এক অনন্য সংগ্রামী ব্যক্তি ছিলেন। যোদ্ধা ছিলেন। তিনি একাধারে মুক্তিযোদ্ধা, তিনি শিক্ষা প্রচারে যোদ্ধা এবং সর্বশেষে করোনা যোদ্ধা।
করোনা-কালীন লক-ডাউনে যখন সমস্ত যান বাহন বন্ধ ছিল তখন আমাদের মানুষ মানুষের জন্য ফাউন্ডেশন এবং পে ইট ফরোয়ার্ডের উদ্যোগে তৈরি, স্বাস্থ্য মন্ত্রনালয়ের অনুমোদনে প্রস্তুত লেভেল ওয়ান এবং লেভেল টু মানের পিঁপিঁই সারা বাংলাদেশের জেলে ও উপজেলা লেভেলে পৌঁছে দেওয়ার উদ্যোগ হুমকির মুখে পড়ে যায়। তার মালিকানাধীন সুন্দরবন কুরিয়ার সার্ভিস সহ সব কুরিয়ার সার্ভিস ততদিনে কর্মচারীদেরকে ছুটি দিয়ে দিয়েছে। এমতাবস্থায় তাকে মাত্র এক বার বলার সাথে সাথে তিনি এই মহত কার্যক্রমে যথাসম্ভব অংশগ্রহণের অঙ্গীকার করেন। এবং দু দিনের মধ্যে তার ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টরের মাধ্যমে কিছু মানুষকে বুঝিয়ে ছুটি থেকে ফেরত এনে কুরিয়ার সার্ভিসের কয়েকটি ট্রাক পিঁপিঁই বিতরণের কাজে নিয়োজিত করেন। যার মাধ্যমে গত দুই মাস যাবত সারা দেশে সব উপজেলা লেভেল পর্যন্ত পিঁপিঁই বিতরণ অব্যাহত আছে।
এ ছাড়াও তিনি করোনা সাস্পেক্ট মানুষদের জন্য বড় আকারের আবাসিক আইসোলেশন সেন্টার তৈরি করে সরকারের অনুমোদনের অপেক্ষায় ছিলেন।
এই মহান যোদ্ধারা দেশের জন্য অমূল্য সম্পদ। তাদের চলে যাওয়া মেনে নিতে খুব কষ্ট হয়। কিন্তু করোনা যেন বেছে বেছে তার মত বয়োবৃদ্ধ, অভিজ্ঞ, যোদ্ধাদেরকেই টার্গেট করেছে। আমাদের এখন তার আত্মার মাগফিরাত কামনা করা ছাড়া আর কিছুই করার নাই।

On behalf of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bangladesh, I would like to convey my most heartfelt condolences to Shanto-Mariam Foundation on the passing of Mr. Imamul Kabir Shanto, the freedom fighter of Bangladesh and the founding chairman of Shanto-Mariam Foundation, Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT), and Sundarban Courier Services. I also wish to express my deep sympathies to the bereaved family members for their great loss.

সুন্দরবন কুরিয়ার ও শান্ত মরিয়ম ইউনিভার্সিটির ইমামুল কবির শান্ত আজ মারা গেলেন | আজই ওনার মৃত্যু হলো – একবারই একমাত্র মৃত্যু, বীরের মতো!
জনাব শান্ত করোনাভাইরাস নিয়ে কনসার্ন্ড ছিলেন, নিজের জন্য যা সেইফটি মেজার নেয়া দরকার তা সব নিয়েছেন, কিন্তু আতংকিত হয়ে স্বার্থপর হননি – যা দেখছি আমাদের মন্ত্রী, মেয়র, এম পি দের মধ্যে |
জনাব শান্তর করোনাভাইরাস তো দুসপ্তাহ আগে হলো| দু তিন মাস আগের কথা, ওনার লেভেলের ধনীরা যখন ধান্দা করছে কিভাবে চার্টার্ড বিমান নিয়ে অথবা মিথ্যাকথা বলে এয়ার এম্বুলেন্স এ করে দেশ ছাড়ার, জনাব শান্ত তখন থেকেই করোনাভাইরাস এর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধে সামনে থেকে লড়ছেন| পুরোপুরি পস্চিমা কনসেপ্ট এডাপ্ট করে – তিনি তার ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠান উন্মুক্ত করে দেন কোভিড সংক্রান্ত কাজে| উনি সবাইকে বারবার বলেছেন – আমরা যেন যে কোন পিপিই শিপমেন্ট এর কাজে সুন্দরবন কুরিয়ার এর ফ্রি সার্ভিসটার সুযোগ নেই|
ঢাকাতে ওনার একটা খালি বড় কমার্শিয়াল ভবন ছিল – উনি ওটাকে কোভিড হাসপাতাল করার জন্যে সরকারকে বিনামূল্যে দেয়ার প্রস্তাব দিয়েছিলেন| এবং চেষ্টা করছিলেন ওখানে কিছু একটা করার |
জনাব ইমামুল কবির শান্ত দেশে একটা খুব প্রোগ্রেসিভ ইউনিভার্সিটি খুলেছিলেন – শান্ত মরিয়ম ইউনিভার্সিটি অফ ক্রিয়েটিভ টেকনোলজি | ওদের ডিপার্টমেন্ট গুলো, কারিকুলাম দেখে এটাকে আমার অনেকটা শান্তিনিকেতনের একবিংশ শতাব্দীর ভার্সন হয়েছে|
শান্ত সাহেব পালিয়ে যান নি, ভয় আতঙ্কে দশবার মরে যাননি, করনার সাথে লড়তে লড়তে একবারই মরেছেন, এটা বীরের মৃত্যু!
