REMEMBERING

Imamul Kabir Shanto

Md. Imamul Kabir Shanto, the founder of the Shanto-Mariam Foundation, was a valiant freedom fighter of the nation.

He joined the liberation war at the young age of seventeen. The goal of the liberation war that the Father of the Nation, Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, called for was not only to gain the geographical freedom, but also to establish a golden Bengal of a dignified nation through economic emancipation and cultural development of the people where economic disparity would be eliminated. We achieved the geographic independence, but neither we achieved the economic freedom nor the cultural development.

This page is dedicated in eternal memory of our beloved honourable founder Mr.Imamul Kabir Shanto.

Dear sir,

We salute you from the core of our heart.

You would often say “There is a lot to do for the people of our country before I can sleep”.

We promise to take your legacy forward & rise to your vision so that you can sleep peacefully.

We are your soldiers and we promise to fight against poverty, to build skilled human resources, to utilise our natural resources, to expand distance learning and promote cultural education in our country.

We are determined to fulfill your cherished dream to build a beautiful nation.

You have showed us the path where we can serve others in the society selflessly in times of crisis.

You devoted yourself to human welfare till you said good bye forever. During this COVID 19 pandemic you worked day and night from your home by declaring ‘ Save the Nation, War against Corona’. You have set up a Quarantine Center in “Shanto Nibash” and like always you refused to take external funding.

While we are immersed in feelings of deep shock, sadness and emptiness at your sudden passing, your spirit is alive amongst everyone of us.

We promise to carry forward your mission with the same courage, dignity and compassion that you exemplified till your last breath.
